How I wear my: gloves

I haven't participated in "How I wear my..." since April or May. My heart wasn't in the right place - I was working on my applications a lot, and when I wasn't working, I was too sad about not being in the place I want to be, I really didn't feel like dressing up. When the real autumn started, with yellow leaves and beautiful rains, I realized I didn't even touch some of my favorite summer dresses. I wasn't depressed, but my mind was elsewhere.
Now, with new/old city and new realities I feel more inspired to blog and to participate in round-ups. Especially in this one, created by two wonderful ladies - Jill of Everything Just So and Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a budget).
Please, check out their posts where you can find lots of spring outfit inspiration and get to know more amazing bloggers!

So gloves... As I’m back on Sicily now, this post becomes even more interesting. Mostly because even here I wear gloves in the evening, and it's +11-14C degrees at night. Some of my friends are literally laughing in my face when they see gloves on my hands (honestly, happened yesterday when I went out to get a pizza). But I basically don't care - even though I’m okay with wearing tights and skirts all winter long, if my hands get cold, I’m freezing all over. These double-sided gloves are from Italian brand PittaRosso, that sells horrible (and I mean it!) shoes and quite decent accessories. I bought them last year and they are still making me happy every rainy cold day.

Out and about

I just loved my January 2nd. My friend Luda and I went shopping for some DIY supplies and went for a lunch (and immediately started working on our projects!).

Друге січня у мене було чудовим. Ми з Людою пішли купувати різні гарні штучки для рукоділля, а потім обідати (і одразу ж почали збирати прикраси з щойно куплених деталей!).

Новая папка (563x317)

I'm wearing:
Coat - H&M, thrifted
Scarf - Self made (inspired by the scarf Katie McGrath wears sometimes - here and here)
Jeans - hand-me-downs from my lovely Sasha (we exchange clothes sometimes)
Boots - Doc Martens, a gift from my mom (I guess it's been 4 years or so)
Bag - thrifted
Mittens - street vendor
Belt - b.p.c. (via bonprix.ua)

{outfit post - Buena Vista Social Club}

A great night out with my friends in small jazz and salsa club in Kyiv. It's called Buena Vista Latin House, inspired by famous Cuban Buena Vista Social Club - lovely little place in the heart of the city, with vintage piano at the entrance, Cuban flags, live music and great mojitos))
Also it was a great occasions - my friend's ex-student was singing there that night. She's got an amazing-amazing voice and her renditions of classic jazz standarts are gorgeous. So the evening was great, and I have a new favorite club now!))

I was wearing:

Dress/Сукня - boohoo.com (a little bit altered by me)
Coat/Пальто - H&M
Scarf/Шарф - a gift from Goa
Belt/Пояс - B.P.C. (via http://www.bonprix.ua/)
Boots/Чоботи - no brand, I've bought them at the department store near my work
Earrings/Сережки - gift from my friends
Infinity ring/Каблучка - Avon empowerment ring
Bracelets/Браслети - Topshop
Tights/Колготки - Conte

{outfit post - Christmas eve}

As you may know, I'm Ukrainian and also an Orthodox Christian (I'm not very religious though). So we celebrate Christmas on January 7th. This is what I wore this year for a nice evening with my friends before heading home to spend some time with my family.
I'm wearing:
Dress - thrifted, some Asian brand I can't find in Internet (love the dress though)
Cobalt blue sweater - Oggi
Boots - no brand
Belt - B.P.C.
Venetian glass earrings and bracelet - present from my mom, one of the first jewelry items she ever made
Ring - present from Venice (it wasn't intentional, I swear)))
Coat - H&M
Bag - Orsay (way too similar to Alexander McQueen's Rocco Duffel bag for it to be a coincidence, but what the hell, I love it. And I can't affordMcQueen))))

Coat - Oggi
Striped top - bought it in Metro
Scarf - thrifted
Jeans - Zara
Booties - Carnaby
Satchel - Derby
Earings - from Thailand

I went out to get a cheese chiabata and latte, and decided to take some pictures near this weird old building. I love weird. And old.
Some news:
- I've bought a new laptop. My old one is having so many problems that I can't work on it properly. And I have a lot of freelance translation jobs now and lot's of creative ideas (short stories and articles). So it was inevitable.
- we're having an annivercsary party at the office tomorrow. Well, basically we're working for like an hour and then we're going to the paintball club for a game. I'd really like to go, but there's a huge chance that I won't make it - I'm having an event on Monday and client haven't approved of a few details yet. Well, possibly no paintball for Maryna.
- work's been interesting - sometimes boring, sometimes nerve-wracking, sometimes really boring. Craving some nice projects - I like organisation and planning, not writing policies.

That's pretty much it. I wish everyone a nice day and getting back to work.

Good news

Untitled-3

Denim skirt - Jennifer

Crochet earings - my shop, Antares flower buttons
Crochet flower brooch - my shop, Antares flower buttons
Tights - don't remember
Socks - Marilyn (I guess)
Boots - no brand
Handbag - Debenhams (thrifted)

Life's been pretty crazy (and amazing) lately.
First of all, I'm starting on a new job on Tuesday. Still an event planner, but now it's a place in the advertising agency. It's been a while since I had to get up early in the morning and actually go to work, so I'm excited and freaked out at the same time.
I also had a call from one of the TV-channels I occasionally freelance for. I've agreed to take a new project - translation of 'Community' into Ukrainian. I just cou;dn't let anyone else take it - I love this show too much.
So now I kinda have 4 jobs at the same time. How cool (and scary) is that?
Well, that's pretty much it. And this is what I wore today for a night of movies, sushi and beer with my friends. This and also the parka.

Warm and cozy

Untitled-2

Dress - Oggi
Cardigan - thrifted (for half a dollar)
Belt - thrifted
Boots - no brand

Yesterday one of my best friends Mila'd became a PhD. I was in the auditorium when she was defending her thesis and really liked it. I've never been much of a sience person - I like to study, I like reseach, but no, I couldn't write a thesis even if my life depend on it. I do have a serious dislike of all the execution's limitations. Even my master's thesis was a torture for me. That's why I love to paint and don't have a PhD.
That's what I wore for the occasion. I love this outfit - it's warm and comfy, and also makes this dress appropriate for wearing casually (it's way to open to wear it without cardigan on such occasions). Pictures are a little awkward - I was very tired and had a terrible headache. But the day was great.
Congratulations, Mila!

Sabine et moi

Untitled

I'm wearing:
dress - Red Stones (thrifted)
angora bolero - Coast (thrifted)
vintage brooch - my grandma's
earings - made by my mom
ring - gift from Milan

Sabi's wearing:
dress - Asos

So many of my dearest friends are living very far from me. I have besties in London, Warshaw, Vilnius, Amsterdam, Moskow, Saint Petersburg. Sabine is one of them, a great friend, whom I see only for a few days a year.
These pictures were taken in our favorite Italian restaurant on Christmas Eve (right before I went home to celebrate with my family). There was a night of a very odd light, that's why everyone looks pale and exhausted on every picture (we totally weren't exhausted))

I'm having the weirdest week, full of work (too many movies to translate), classes amd studio practice (still haven't written a descent text to read in the studio on week-end), my friend's defence of a thesis, so long, so long.
That's why I haven't written fasion inspirations of anything else this week. Sorry, I hope I'll catch up with everything later.

Red lipstick and the "Central Perk"

There's a awesome new coffee-shop in Kyiv! The fans of "FRIENDS" have opened the Friends-themed cafe and it's an amazing place to spend a nice winter evening. It's really cosy and cute, has it's unique atmosphere and you can enjoy delicious sandwiches and coffee for a very reasonable price.
The funniest part - neither me nor any of my friends from Kyiv knew about it, until Dasha (who's actually Russian and lives in Moskow) came to visit and told us about it.

Outfit and the tree)

I have a few free seconds, which means that I'm not working on my new Discovery translations (really need to finish them as soon as possible and get payed) and I'm not sleeping, which would be a wise thing to do, 'cause I've got three ongoing work projects now:
- full time freelance (yeah, I know) of doing really mindless work (I get to communicate with really cool people while working and get payed often, but I also have to get up at 7-00, and I've been working from home for a long time - I'm usually awake at this time only if I haven't got to bed at all,
- Discovery translations,
- re-writing side job for my friend's boyfriend and his company.

And I also have to find time for:
- radio school (tomorrow is my last class before holidays, yay!),
- meeting my friends, who came home from Warshaw for New Year,
- visiting an excibition at a really cool gallery,
- picking and sending gifts and postcards (I'm so late this year, shame on me),
- pre-holiday thrifting (I fell in love with a pair of wedges and waiting for the right price),
- buying a Christmas tree and decorating it with handmade ornaments.

Well, crazy days.
But I'm so happy that last night I've took some time off from all the craziness and had a night out with my friends! We've watched Tangled (none of us had time to watch it before), shopped for some handmade goodies and had an amazing dinner.
And later my friend took these pictures of me under the Christmas tree in a small mall. So hi, that's me again)
