2015 in pictures

Normally I have no patience to do posts like this, but this year I felt like doing it. This year was very difficult for me. I had a lot of disappointments, rejections and doubts, but, at the same time, I had a few really great accomplishments I’m really proud of. So yeah, difficult, but very important. I wish there was a way to grow and learn in a less painful way, but that’s just life, I guess.
Let’s go!

January
January on Sicily started with a wonderful snowstorm – first in more than 30 years. The days were quiet cold and sad – people from my project were leaving. I was happy I was staying, but we started this wonderful adventure all together, and saying goodbye is always hard for me.
On January 6th (which is my Christmas Eve) I went on a day trip to Isola delle Femmine – a small town one hour away from Palermo – and made this photo, which became one of my favorites.

The sense of HOME: back to Sicily again

You know all those overly used phrases? "Home is where your heart is", "home is not a place, but people", etc.?
Well, of course those words are used way too much, but only because they are true. What no one usually tells you is that your heart has an ability to be at two, three, twenty places at once.
It doesn't mean less love for your first home though.
It just means that when you are happy, your heart grows. Infinitely.

When I started this blog, I was living in Kyiv, Ukraine - the beautiful and charming city, where I was born and raised. I was working from home, so really needed a sort of a creative outlet – something that will motivate me to write, to take photos, to dress up once in a while and tell someone about my life.
For example, about going to Pyrohiv (in Kyiv)

Autumn's here

We have an amazingly beautiful autumn in Kyiv this year. It's almost like a reward for me - during the time I spent in South East Asia I couldn't stop dreaming about autumn. About clear cool air, beautiful leaves and cozy scarfs-boots-coats outfits (I think everyone's going to dream about it while living in +40C temperatures).

So this weekend we went to one of my absolutely favorite spots in Kyiv and my friend took some pictures of me. And yes, I wear glasses now. It's not a fashion choice - my eyes get so tired because of constant writing/translating that this is the only possible way to help them relax a little. I'd love to still have my perfect eyesight, but we have what we have. I kinda love them, so I don't mind.

Wearing:
Jeans, coat, boots, denim shirt - thrifted
Scarf - bought it at Pratunam market in Bangkok
Bracelets - handmade, Centro and bought at Chatuchak market in Bangkok
Earrings - KUZ and borrowed from my mom
Glasses - Carl Zeiss

1 I'm actually holding a pumpkin tart here. I bought it from 'Baker Street' bakery and was trying not to break it.

Out and about

I just loved my January 2nd. My friend Luda and I went shopping for some DIY supplies and went for a lunch (and immediately started working on our projects!).

I'm wearing:
Coat - H&M, thrifted
Scarf - Self made (inspired by the scarf Katie McGrath wears sometimes - here and here)
Jeans - hand-me-downs from my lovely Sasha (we exchange clothes sometimes)
Boots - Doc Martens, a gift from my mom (I guess it's been 4 years or so)
Bag - thrifted
Mittens - street vendor
Belt - b.p.c. (via bonprix.ua)

{outfit post - the playground}

This is the most popular playground in Kyiv - it's situated on Peyzazhna (Landscape) alley and everyone likes to go there and take pictures. It started off as a park, then a part of it transitioned into theis lovely playground, and now it's becoming an art project (I'll definitely blog about art part of it later).
Adults love this place even more then kids do. I've already had a post about this amazing place too - I love this playground and often go there with my friends.

Christmas fair/

Yesterday my friend invited me to go with her to the Warm fair, a Christmas/New Year fair, that took place at Mystetskyi Arsenal - an amazing cultural space in the heart of Kyiv.
She promised me gingerbread, mulled wine and lots of cool stuff, so I couldn't refuse. And it was amazing! I want you to take a look at this great warm event too.

There were so many great ideas for holiday gifts - gingerbread, tea, holiday cards, books, jewelry. I ended up bying a book and a few postcards for myself, a holiday box of candy for my little nephew and a gingerbread man for my aunt, because I planned to see them that evening.

In the far end of the Arsenal people were listening to the concert band

So we've had a great day, lots of holiday inspirations, had some cookies and mulled wine and felt amazing. I need to have such weekends more often.

{outfit post - super relaxed}

Thank you all so much for your kind words and wishes)) My toe is much better now) I've had an X-ray on Friday and it showed that the fracture is healed! I'm so happy! It still hurts a little, but now I know that everything is okay and I can start my trainings again (veeeery slowly and carefully).

I felt super lazy and super relaxed that day, so I decided to go for something really casual and comfy. I don't usually wear outfits without defined waist, but well, why not try this once or twice? So that's me wearing shorts) And some pictures capturing the great athmosphere we have at Kyiv now - Euro 2012 feels like a huge happy carnaval and is full of love)

I wore/

Shorts, t-shirt/Шорти, футболка - thrifted
Bag/Сумка - vintage, thrifted
Owl necklace/Підвіска з совою - Seppala
Sandals/Сандалі - Blink (can't wear anything else for more then 2 weeks now)
White bandaid/Білий пластир - curtesy of the drugstore near my work))))

Full Time Fabulous - Where are you from?

I'm so happy to become a part of Full Time Fabulous Community. I't such a great project! For the first month we will be talking about the places we call our home.

1

My home is Kyiv (Kiev), the capital of Ukraine (which is the largest country in Europe). My country was a part of USSR till 1991, when we finally got out independence. So no, Ukraine is not Russia. We are and independent country, with our oun language, history and culture, and it always makes me quite sad when people are saying: "Oh, you're Russian". I'm not, I don't have a single drop of Russian blood, and I was born and raised in Ukraine, in a very pathriotic family.

Red lipstick and the "Central Perk"

There's a awesome new coffee-shop in Kyiv! The fans of "FRIENDS" have opened the Friends-themed cafe and it's an amazing place to spend a nice winter evening. It's really cosy and cute, has it's unique atmosphere and you can enjoy delicious sandwiches and coffee for a very reasonable price.
The funniest part - neither me nor any of my friends from Kyiv knew about it, until Dasha (who's actually Russian and lives in Moskow) came to visit and told us about it.

My beautiful city

Last Saturday my friends bought us tickets for the tour to see some beautiful and unknown (even to us) parts of our city. They wanted to cheer me up and they succeded. It was an amazing day - golden autumn leaves, amazing pieces of architecture and places I've never seen before (and I'm always a guide for all of my friends).
It was a magical day and a magical walk around our magical city (it's true - Kiev is well known for being a homeland to everything witchy and magical. There's a saying that every girl and woman in Kiev is a witch).
IMG_1986

I'm wearing almost the same stuff I wore in windmill post + traditional Ukrainian shawl, black with flowers on it (belonged to my great-grandma))).
This places are not the ones tourists often visits (I lived here almost all of my life and have never seen lot's of this places)), but they are amazing))
